USCAA artists to dabble in collage

The first Drawing Class for the year will be presented by Patricia McCann and Ritha Fenske.

THE Upper South Coast Art Association holds its first meeting for the year in the activities hall of the main library on Saturday, 19 January.

The meeting begins at 1pm and ends at about 4pm. Refreshments will be supplied for a small fee. The afternoon meeting will be preceded by the morning drawing session which will begin at 9am and end approximately noon.

The first Drawing Class for the year will be presented by Patricia McCann and Ritha Fenske. Bring all your regular drawing materials like pencils, pens, coloured pencils, charcoal, pastels – everything you’ve been using so far. The only extra item you will need will be Pritt glue. We would like to include a bit of collage, and for that the Pritt glue stick works well.

We hope to see all of you again, including those who have not been able to attend sessions during last year – we miss you, and would love to see you back again. We would also like to invite anyone who would like to improve their drawing skills, regardless of your level of drawing. Come and join in the fun and learn in the process.

The demo in the afternoon will be given by Anthea Martin, a practicing artist and teacher who has been involved in the Durban art world for many years. She has had her own gallery in Westville and was director of the African Art Centre for 13 years. She has exhibited widely in the Durban area and other places. She is an expert in the art of collage.

See you there and join in the fun.
