Nature artist to share her secrets with USCAA

THE Upper South Coast Art Association's next meeting is on Saturday, 17 November in the activities hall of Amanzimtoti library.

The meeting starts at 1pm and ends at about 4pm.

Refreshments will be supplied for a small fee. The afternoon meeting will be preceded by the morning drawing session which begins at 9am and ends at about noon.

The drawing session will be presented by Patricia McCann. Full instructions will be given, and no references are required, but artists will need to take all their usual drawing utensils – pencils, charcoal, pastels in red, blue, yellow, white, fineliner or ball point pens, in red, blue and black. Paper will be provided.

The demo in the afternoon will be given by Shel Offerman, who studied teaching at UCT with art as an option, and then taught art for many years. She is inspired mainly by nature, but nature is so perfectly beautiful that she felt she could never truly do it justice by trying to paint it absolutely realistically. Her paintings are just a brief glimpse of something far greater and far more beautiful than she could ever depict. A memory, a special place, a blink in time.

Go along and see for yourselves.
