THURSDAY, 6 SEPTEMBER: Fancy trying something new? Looking to meet new people? Try bowls – it’s a fun team game that’s easy to learn. Amanzimtoti Bowling Club invites bowlers and non-bowlers to ‘Burgers and bowls by floodlight’. Members will show you the ropes and bowls will be available. Just wear flat-soled shoes. Cost is R20 for the game and R30 for a burger. Registration at 5pm for 5.30pm start.

FRIDAY, 7 SEPTEMBER: Probus Club of Amanzimtoti monthly meeting at 10am with a braai in tranquil stunning surroundings. Membership is closed at the moment due to the limited seating and the size of the venue. For information contact secretary Cliff Hole on 076-542-5082.

SATURDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER: Jewish Mekudeshet meeting at Amanzimtoti Methodist Church. Prayer at 10am and meeting at 11am. Take along a plate of snacks for fellowship tea afterwards.

SUNDAY, 9 SEPTEMBER: Amanzimtoti’s partially sighted and blind bowlers are urged to attend the Visually Impaired Bowlers Association’s weekly bowling afternoon at Berea Bowling Club in Durban every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Blind and partially sighted people who are prepared to join this association can look forward to an afternoon of fun and fellowship playing bowls. SUNDAY, 9 SEPTEMBER: Toti Ramblers will walk along the Springside Nature Reserve in Hillcrest. The Spring flowers should be out for this wonderful walk. MONDAY, 10 SEPTEMBER: SAARP meets in the Toti library activities room at 9.30am for 10am. All are welcome. Entrance fee is R4. Sylvia Garvie will present a slideshow on her life growing up in Nigeria. Membership is open to all over 50s. Annual fees are R50 per married couple and R30 for singles. WEDNESDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER: The Upper South Coast Garden Club meets every second Wednesday of the month at 9.30am, with the venue details published in the Sun of the previous week. Membership is open to anyone interested in gardening even if you don’t have a garden. Annual membership fees are R30. Visitors are welcome. The next meeting takes place at Jona Vaughn Home at 9.30am. SATURDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER: Clean Surf Project hosts a international coastal beach clean-up at Twini Beach (Amanzimtoti Golf Course) from 8am. All are welcome.

 

Lions host health checks

KINGSBURGH Lions Club hosts its next health testing session on Saturday, 8 September.

Every second Saturday of the month, between 10.30am to 12.30pm, Kingsburgh Lions Club hosts free blood pressure and diabetes testing at Pick ’n Pay Arbour Crossing. Look out for their table at the Pick n Pay entrance.

 

Ramble along with other Toti walkers

Toti Ramblers walk every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6am from Lords and Legends parking area. Tuesday is for the fit who can walk 11km in two hours, Wednesday is for the not so fit who can walk 4km in one hour and Thursday for the in-between who can walk 8km in one and half hours. All are welcome. No cost involved. Call Hylton on 084-783-7336.

 

Check your mate over chess

CHESS players meet on alternate Wednesdays at either Kingsburgh library or Amanzimtoti library.

There is no charge. The time will be decided to suit the players.

All levels of chess players, from beginners to advanced, are welcome.
