Amanzimtoti shellhole bestows good comradeship on non-Moth

I’m proud to accept this award and I thank the members of Picardy Bazooka.

Picardy Bazooka Shellhole honoured one of its close friends with a good comradeship award on Friday, 13 July.

Although Bob Southey (87) did not serve during a conflict and therefore cannot be an actual member of the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTHs), he was presented with the award from the Moth order of Durban and districts during the last social of the year at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club.

“I did my service on the Bluff from 1952 to 1954. I’m proud to accept this award and I thank the members of Picardy Bazooka.”

Bob Southey was presented with a good comradeship award from the Moth order of Durban and districts.

Bob was born in Durban and has lived in Toti since 1941. He was married to the late Moragh and has a daughter Barbara, who lives in Pietermaritzburg. He was an account manager at Standard Bank for 49 years until his retirement in 1988.

Picardy Bazooka has been bolstered with two new members. Eric Klopper (64) grew up in Warner Beach and did his service in Bethlehem in 1972. “I enjoy the sense of community in the MOTHs,” he said.
