Hospice to benefit from annual Umkomaas River charity raft race

Corporate team building is welcome, as are donations on the day.

Make a splash at the fourth annual Charity Umkomaas River Raft Race which takes place on Saturday, 24 February.

The race will start near the Sappi plant up the river at 8am and end at the Umkomaas Ski-Boat Club where there will be lots of activities for all to enjoy.

The day will feature a trophy for best spirit, Cansa Shavathon, entertainment for children, slip and slides, food stalls and a cash bar for a whole day of fun. Entry costs R500 per raft with a maximum of six people per raft, and R200 per tube team. Corporate team building is welcome, as are donations on the day.

“People can enter to cruise down the river on a tube or raft,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald. “This is the fourth year the charity raft race is being held and the money raised will be distributed among a few charities, including Khanya Hospice.

This is an ideal opportunity for companies and corporates to do team-building. Participants can put their braais on the raft and we will have fun – braaiing and rafting at the same time.”
