SATURDAY, 18 NOVEMBER: Music at the River hosted by the Toti Brewing Company and Woelwaters Pre Primary School at 10 Dipping Tank Road, Illovo Business Park. Gus Brown Band, Kickstands, Autopilot and Magnanimous Man will entertain. Entry costs R100, while children U16 enter for free. Gates open at 11am and live music starts from 2pm. SUNDAY, 19 NOVEMBER: The Flame Lily Foundation (incorporating the Rhodesia Association of South Africa) holds its 34th annual Rhodie golf day at Amanzimtoti Country Club, followed by a social braai with music by Graham Boyle. Proceeds from the day go towards supporting Rhodesian pensioners. The braai will start at about 1pm, after the golf. Limited braai packs will be on sale and the sadza, gravy and salads will be available for a small donation. There are still a few spaces open for fourballs. SUNDAY, 26 NOVEMBER: Kingsburgh Child Welfare’s annual beach walk takes place at Winkelspruit Beach (next to the lifesavers club) at 7.30am. Entry R20 per person or a bag of good used clothing to be donated. This walk is in aid of 16 Days on Activism of Violence Against Women and Children. Participants will walk as far as Subway Beach, then back to Winkle Beach. All are welcome and this is a family affair to enjoy the beautiful South Coast. WEDNESDAY, 29 NOVEMBER: 21 Club Christmas luncheon at noon for 12.30pm at Lords and Legends conference room. Members are reminded to take an item from the grocery cupboard to contribute to the Lions feeding plan. Confirmation of intention to attend or not must be received by the relevant committee members by Friday, 24 November. Guests, who must be invited by a member, can only be accommodated if there is space. Music will be provided by Evan Perkins. Dress for a party.

FRIDAY, 1 DECEMBER: Probus Amanzimtoti Christmas lunch and party take place at Amanzimtoti Golf Club in Athlone Park from 11.30am to 3pm.

FRIDAY, 1 DECEMBER to SUNDAY, 3 DECEMBER: Khanya Hospice Summer Fair at DSB municipal grounds in Craigieburn with lots of entertainment for all visitors, young and old, including the Khanya Has Talent showcase, great food stalls, activities all day, a fun fair, Radio Hindvani broadcast and celebrities in attendance. SUNDAY, 10 DECEMBER: Illovo Helping Hands Society holds its 37th annual day for senior citizens including those suffering with cardio, renal and cancer-related health problems, starting at 9.30am at the Lower Illovo grounds. SATURDAY, 16 DECEMBER: St Mary’s Church hosts a fundraising Christmas fair at 157 Kingsway, Warner Beach. The cost is R100 to book a table to sell your wares and R200 if you want to use a gazebo, provide your own. Businesses can advertise at a cost of R100 per banner. There will be lots to entertain the children and community-based NPOs are invited to raise awareness of their cause at no cost. SATURDAY, 16 DECEMBER: A Christmas fair is being hosted by St Mary’s Church, 157 Kingsway Road, Warner Beach, starting at 8am. Fleamarket, arts and crafts and many others stalls available to sell your wares. There will be entertainment for adults and children too – including a jumping castle; games and face and hair art for children. Live and piped music throughout the day, tea garden and good food. Stall holders table bookings cost R100, gazebo R200 (the church supplies the table) or advertise your company by providing a banner for display. Sponsors will be acknowledged. Learn to play bridge

Lions host health checks

Every second Saturday of the month, between 10am and noon, Kingsburgh Lions host free blood pressure and diabetes testing at Pick and Pay Arbour Crossing.

The next testing will be on Saturday, 9 December.

 

SAARP seniors lunch

South African Association of Retired Persons (SAARP) members are urged to note that the lunch on Monday, 13 November must be paid by no later than 1 November.
