Explore the 7 wonders of the world

Travel the world through your computer screen.

WE have all heard about the seven wonders of the ancient world, but do you know what the new seven wonders of the world are?

There have been numerous ‘wonders’ lists over the eons, but most of these marvels have long since disappeared – reclaimed by the Earth or destroyed by mankind.

The wonders of antiquity were:

  • Colossus of Rhodes
  • Great Pyramid of Giza
  • Hanging Gardens of Babylon
  • Lighthouse of Alexandria
  • Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
  • Statue of Zeus at Olympia
  • Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

The ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’ features a list of places which you should include on your travel bucket list.

A Swiss corporation founded in 2001, the New7Wonders Foundation listed 200 monuments to compete for the list. In 2007 the final seven had been whittled down to include the following. Click on the links to explore these wonders thanks to Google Street View:

Chichen Itza

Christ the Redeemer

Colosseum

Great Wall of China

Machu Picchu

Petra

Taj Mahal

A second new wonder list includes natural phenomena:

Amazon Rainforest

Halong Bay

Iguazu Falls

Jeju Island

Komodo Island

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River

Table Mountain
