Raise funds for retirement centre at annual fete

Local businesses can assist with the donation of homemade produce.

Poinsettia Park Retirement Centre encourages Amanzimtoti residents to diarise Saturday, 1 July and support its annual fete.

This year an arts and craft market has been added to the fete.

With the theme ‘movies’, the public is welcome to attend and meet movie characters from the hit movies ‘Frozen’ and ‘Minions’ and super heroes for a great family outing.

Expect lots of delicious food on offer, such as pancakes, boerewors rolls, curry and rice and much more. Visit Ouma’s Pantry for preserves and ginger beer.

This year the fete times have changed – gates open from 8am to 2pm.

Browse through the stalls for books, gifts and handcrafts or enjoy the tea garden while the children enjoy tombola, a jumping castle and face painting.

Poinsettia Park can be found at 619 Kingsway in Amanzimtoti and there is plenty of secure and safe parking.

Artists and crafters can call manager of community services, Wendy Lloyd on 079-605-1049 to book a stall.

“Come spend the day with us as we raise funds for our home. The main initiative of our annual fete is to assist residents to raise funds for the management, general running, upkeep and maintenance of Poinsettia Park, as well as to meet many escalating annual financial commitments,” added Wendy.

Local businesses can assist with the donation of homemade produce or items such as homemade cakes and tarts, cupcakes, muffins, koeksisters, sausage rolls and pies and so on to be resold at the fete food stalls.

“Plants are also welcome for the plant stall. Any and all donations will be much appreciated.

“We will appreciate it if you can give us an indication of the various produce and quantity to be donated on or before Thursday, 15 June,” said Wendy.

Donated homemade produce must be delivered to Poinsettia Park two days before the fete.
