School stage show to hit the Perfect Pitch

Audiences can expect a fun and comical show filled with a range of talent

THEATRE lovers are invited to enjoy the musical spectacular ‘The Perfect Pitch’ by Kingsway High pupils from 20 to 23 April.

The musical is based on the movie ‘Pitch Perfect’ about a girl who starts her journey at university. She meets a singing group of girls ‘The Belles’ who help her change her perspective on friendships and help her gain the courage to not push people away as she has in previous years. She ends up joining this group, where they sing accepella together and in the process create an incredible bond.

The production crew consists of Minenhle Ndaba (producer), Michael Anderson (co-producer), Chenay Naude and Nomaxaba Njongwe (choreographers) and Nosiphiwo Sithole (manager).

“Pitch Perfect is young, fresh and vibrant,” said Ndaba. “Every teenager can relate to it, because they have at some point in their life had a problem with fitting in. This play deals with self-acceptance and also portrays a comical twist. People will absolutely love it.”

The cost is R35 per person or R50 for supper theatre and doors open at 6.30pm.

All the songs featured in the play are acapella, to stay true to the original, but according to Ndaba, it is in the best interests of the production team that the vocal aspects have a different twist.

The cast comprises of pupils from grades 8 to 12. “It’s important we give people a chance to showcase their talents and they can have the chance to shine and flourish,” said Ndaba.

Audiences can look forward to hearing songs such as ‘Since you’ve been gone’, ‘The cup song’, songs from ‘the riff off’, and many more.

Audiences can expect a fun and comical show filled with a range of talent,” said Ndaba.
