THE Lions Club of Amanzimtoti hosts the annual South Coast Highland Gathering at Hutchison Park on Saturday, 30 April where all visitors are welcome.

This is the 52nd hosting of the Gathering, where visitors will be spoilt with awesome displays of Scottish dancing, marching bands and entertainment at Hutchison Park.

Added to this will be plenty of delicious stalls to tantalise the taste buds.

Entry costs R40 for adults, R20 for pensioners and students and R10 for children under 10. Children under five get in free.

Bookings for food stalls closes on 30 March. “At that time we can send the list of bookings to the health department,” said Lion John West, who is in charge of the food stalls.

“At that stage stallholders will not be able to have obtained their licences.

They need to send in their application as soon as they have booked.

During that month the health department will arrange a class to teach the healthy handling of food and after that, they will issue a Certificate of Acceptability (COA).”

A hawker's license can only be obtained when they have the COA and a signed letter from John accepting them as stall holders. This letter cannot be issued before the booking process has closed.

“Stallholders need to have their licences in their possession and have sent copies to me by 30 April. Also, this year all stalls, including those selling biltong, pickles, preserves and cakes, need COA and licenses,” said John.

To book a stall, contact John on 082-771-1108, fax 086-600-1484 or email john.d.k.west@gmail.com.
