Haven to discuss self-image

If we can see the image of who we are, wouldn't this be the key in changing how we conduct our lives and behaviour?

A FAVOURED part of the movie The Lion King is when Simba is found and is forced to recognise his identity.

‘Remember who you are’ is the line that comes to mind as, with great confusion he is forced to look in the water which becomes a mirror that reveals a completely different picture to the one he has in his mind of how he looks.

He sees himself as a leaf-eating wimp with no power, influence or authority. But when he looks in the mirror and sees the image of his father, a complete different spirit arises within him. The image he sees suddenly re-aligns his identity as a son of the most feared lion on the planet. When he realises that no matter what people do to you or how life re-arranges you, nothing will change the construct of who you are.

If we can see the image of who we are, wouldn’t this be the key in changing how we conduct our lives and behaviour?

The Haven will discuss the Biblical references to the same theme next week.

The Haven meets on Tuesdays at 9.45am. Join in for a wonderful time of fellowship, where you will meet people and develop new friendships. This is an interdenominational group that gathers every Tuesday morning in the premises of the NG Kerk on the corner of Dan Pienaar and Frost Street. All are welcome.
