Kitted kitchen donation boosts school feeding scheme

The school offers a feeding scheme for 1,300 pupils.

An Umbogintwini school received a massive boost to its feeding scheme with the donation of a fully kitted-out kitchen.

Anchor Yeast opened the new building at Kusakusa Primary School in Umbogintwini on Wednesday, 3 February.

The school offers a feeding scheme for 1,300 pupils.

“Following a visit to the school last year, Anchor Yeast decided to build a kitchen to replace the ‘container kitchen’ on site at the school,” said managing director, Vic De Melo.

“The cooks are excited to start cooking in their new kitchen, which is spacious with adequate storage facilities and features new appliances as well.

We are proud of our association with Kusakusa Primary School and committed to making a difference to our community.”

School principal, Tholakele Hlela said the donation has touched the lives of the staff and pupils.

“Our new kitchen is so beautiful, spacious and conducive for preparing and cooking healthy food. We will keep the kitchen clean and neat at all times and promise to manage it well for many years to come.”
