This summer break beach-goers can relax even more on Toti beaches with a muscle-tingling massage.

“Sapphire Coast Tourism (SCT) had a productive meeting with eThekwini Business Support Unit and we are very excited about this venture to facilitate giving deserving unemployed local folk a chance to benefit from tourism,” said SCT chairman, Kim McCarthy.

“The unit has agreed to extend the issue of permits to masseurs to service beach clientele with massages, from a tented salon on each of our Sapphire Coast beaches. This is proving most successful in Umhlanga and Durban. The venture is not open to salons to exploit, but to unemployed women who patiently wait for a post.”

Candidates of sober habits (drug-free) must take along copies of their certification, identity documents and proof of their local residential address to the SCT committee for an interview.

Upon approval, a letter of motivation will be written to the business support unit to issue the successful candidates with a permit.

“This invitation is also extended to mobile fresh fruit salad vendors and waterless car washers. A sand sculptor has already been identified for Toti main beach,” said Kim McCarthy.
