SATURDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER: KZN Badminton hosts a women’s pamper day at the NBA Hall in Cobham Grove. Cost is R250, which includes two treatments, snacks and tea and coffee. Call Bonnie on 083-783-3533 for more information or to book tickets.

SUNDAY, 20 SEPTEMBER: Toti Ramblers ramble along at Bluff Nature Reserve. Meet at Lords at 7am, and picnic afterwards. For queries, call Wendy on 083-352-6457.

SUNDAY, 20 SEPTEMBER: Rhodesia Association of South Africa (incorporating the Flame Lily Foundation) holds their annual South Coast Rhodie get-together at Poinsettia Park, Kingsway, Amanzimtoti from 11.30am. This is an open invitation to all Rhodesians – young and old – who would like to join in for some fun. Take your own meat and perhaps a salad to share. They will supply meat for the pensioners. Take your own refreshments. Call Jill de Beer on 083-449-8422 if you would like to attend to allow for catering purposes.

MONDAY, 21 SEPTEMBER: The next SAARP outing to Durban goes on the ricksha bus at a cost of R50 per pensioner. Members are to meet at the civic centre at 7.45am to organise transport. All bookings to be paid for at the next monthly meeting on 14 September at 9.30am for 10am in the activities room of Toti library. Call Maureen on 031-903-4182 or 082-436-9281 evenings. Janet Burgess of NSRI will address the members and have a few items and a raffle on sale to raise funds.

WEDNESDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER: 21 Club luncheon ‘hats on for Spring’ at noon for 12.30pm at Lords and Legends conference room. Keep it colourful. Guest speaker is Amanzimtoti Trauma Unit’s Gail Schreiner. Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not, and names of guests, must be received by Lyn on 082-572-1328 or 031-903-4026 or Golda on 083-633-6338 or 031-916-7001 no later than Friday, 18 September. Remember that guests must be invited by a member and will only be accommodated if there is room.

FRIDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER: Probus Amanzimtoti Social Club monthly meeting at 9.20am for 10am in the safe, beautiful, and tranquil surroundings of Umbogavango Nature Reserve. For the bring-and-braai after the meeting, members and visitors are requested to take along their own cups, meat, salads and refreshments. Interested visitors are asked to call Sharon-Ann on 083-312-5360 by Wednesday, 23 September at the latest, as to gain entrance to the nature reserve the gate security will first check your name against their security list.

SATURDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER: St Mary’s Anglican Church presents ‘A musical trip down memory lane… I remember that song… I think?!’ starting at 6pm at 157 Kingsway Warner Beach. SATURDAY, 10 OCTOBER: Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 24 Riverside Road, Amanzimtoti holds a craft market and a sale of household goods at 8.30am. Anyone wanting to hire a table, can call the office on 031-903-3328 between Monday and Friday 9am to 3pm.

SATURDAY, 14 NOVEMBER: Fundraiser to support Mooihawens dementia and Alzheimer’s disease care centre with relationship expert and author, Gretha Wiid as guest speaker at Sweetwaters Church in Sanders Road from 9am.
