SATURDAY, 15 AUGUST: Amanzimtoti Toastmaster Club holds its first monthly meeting at 8am at Amanzimtoti Country Club. Anyone is welcome to attend as a guest and enjoy the supportive learning environment to increase their communication and leadership skills. SATURDAY, 15 AUGUST: Upper South Coast Art Association holds its monthly meeting in the activities hall of Amanzimtoti library. The meeting begins at 1.30pm and ends at 4pm, and the demonstration on using the palette knife and colour mixing will be given by Joan Ray. The theme for the monthly competition is ‘street scene’ which must be completed in a dry medium only.

The meeting follows a drawing session that starts at 9am and ends at about noon. The public is invited to attend this free of charge session. Take along the usual drawing materials, pencils, charcoal and so on.

 

SATURDAY, 15 AUGUST: South African Writers’ Circle meeting at Westville library room G3 at 11am. Published author Ian Tennent will talk on ‘Write like a boss’. This will be followed by a workshop entitled ‘I am absolutely entitled by my own point of view! Or am I?’ led by Ian. Members and and non-members (R20) are most welcome. MONDAY, 17 AUGUST: Diabetes lifestyle group meeting at Pointsettia Park at 10 am. Sister Francis from renal care will be conducting free renal screening tests.

People with diabetes and others interested in learning more about effective management of diabetes are welcome. For more details call Sr M Naicker on 084-403-8078.

 

WEDNESDAY, 26 AUGUST: 21 Club luncheon at noon for 12.30pm at Lords and Legends conference room. Speaker is Alan Symons and his topic is anger management and stress control. The theme is ‘It’s a jungle out there’ so don your animal prints or safari gear. This will also be a market day so if you want a table, notify Lyn or Golda soonest. Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not, and names of guests, must be received by Lyn on 082-572-1328 or on 031-903-4026 or Golda on 083-633-6338 or 031-916-7001 no later than Friday, 21 August. Guests will be accommodated if there is room.

THURSDAY, 27 AUGUST: Seniors going on the SAARP outing to Albany Bakery in Mobeni will meet at the civic centre at 9.15am. From there, transport will be arranged and all will leave by 9.30am. To book call Evadne on 031-903-3697 or 083-731-1332.

 

SATURDAY, 29 AUGUST: Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism AGM at 11am at Happy Days Conference Centre. Fully paid-up members invited to attend. RSVP to info@sapphirecoasttourism.co.za

 

SATURDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER: ‘Awakening your awareness’ day of individual topics and speakers will be held at the Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Road, Umkomaas from 9am until 3.30pm. The aim is to enlighten people. There will be several speakers discussing items such at angels, spiritual healing and various other subjects. There will be a light lunch, Meditation and refreshments will be available. If you would like to attend or for queries, call Gayle on 084-357-4944. All are welcome.

 

SATURDAY, 19 SEPTEMBER: KZN Badminton hosts a women’s pamper day at the NBA Hall in Cobham Grove. Cost is R250 which includes two treatments, snacks and tea and coffee. Call Bonnie on 083-783-3533 for more information or to book tickets.
