Shun violence 24-7-365

Locally, the murder of Toti teen, Shannon Roberts on Friday, 14 November is still fresh in the minds of a horrified and worried Amanzimtoti community.

SOUTH Africa, along with the world, collectively needs to shun all forms of violence against women and children.
And yet, every week there are harrowing accounts of rape, murder and mutilation that continue to shock and shame our beautiful country.

Locally, the murder of Toti teen, Shannon Roberts on Friday, 14 November is still fresh in the minds of a horrified and worried Amanzimtoti community.

The mind boggles that the police still have to urge witnesses to come forward to assist in bringing her murderer to book, when there is such apparent outrage. Why withhold statements that could assist the police to remove the perpetrator from the streets?
Working to end violence against women and children requires a buy-in from all quarters of society, and it will remain a pipe dream if we only speak but don’t act against all forms of abuse.

Don’t stand by and knowingly allow abuse to continue. Speak up and be pro-active in ending the cycle of abuse that plagues our society. For the sake of your own safety and that of your community.
