AMANZIMTOTI’S philanthropic residents have yet more opportunities to show their selfless sides, following the needs that have been highlighted in this week’s Sun.

Children’s causes are close to everyone’s hearts, and the Santa Shoebox project is a worthy recipient of your civic-spirited generosity.

The goal is for Toti to amass 1,000 shoeboxes filled with a host of necessities such as toothpaste and clothing, for less fortunate children. These are donated to the project and then distributed to the needy children during the festive season. There’s nothing quite as festive as sharing the love, and although Christmas is still a few months away, the early warning will allow you to plan your donations carefully.

Of equal importance, Kingsburgh Lions are asking for assistance by way of donations towards an annual children’s Christmas party they host for the little ones. Bringing joy to children at that time of the year is just the right thing to do, and if your own schedule doesn’t allow for it at a time when many businesses are wrapped up in fulfilling their ‘silly season’ obligations, this is an excellent cause to support.

There are several other causes to support locally, among them the local retirement homes, service clubs and the like. If you can’t donate your time, which is an equally precious resource, take a minute to consider what you have to donate to others, and experience the gift of giving.
