EDITORIAL: Saints in more ways than one

Their core principles of 'no money, religion and politics' means anyone and everyone is welcome, as long as you're not afraid of getting your hands dirty or working up a sweat.

THEY’RE aptly named Army Saints, the group of civic-minded people who’ve taken up the cause to improve their surroundings – and for no better reason than ‘it needs doing’.
They’re most certainly saints in the sense that there aren’t many people who make the additional effort to mow their very own verge, never mind taking up the task of hauling masses of hyacinth from the local river.
As such, they’re deserving of major kudos. Not content to sit on the sidelines or be fobbed off by red tape, it’s incredibly inspiring to see so many people band together for a common cause, especially one that is unrelated to their direct lives.
Their example should be shared and emulated, and stand as a testimony to what can be achieved without any additional affiliation being required.

Described as an army of volunteers, their arsenal can no doubt do with a boost in membership. Sign up on their Facebook page to help make a difference not only on Toti River, but also with charities and non-government organisations that do battle on a daily basis.

  1. Hello Michelle.

Firstly thank you for such a positive article about our Army Saints. We are a group of mismatched souls, hell bent on one goal… fixing our world. Army Saints was born in Toti and will hopefully extend to other towns soon.

We will be moving from project to project, doing what we can to help Toti out.

Once again, thanks for the support from the South Coast sun.

    Many regards
