Twini Primary learner makes Sharks team

Blessing Mndaba's good play has seen him named in the prestigious team.

UMBOGINTWINI Primary School learner Blessing Mndaba (12) has been selected for the Sharks Primary School’s U12 A-team which is going to play in Klerksdorp on June 22 to 24. Blessing, who is in Grade Six, was the only player from an Amanzimtoti primary school to be selected for the U12 A-team.

Umbogintwini Primary School’s teacher Minenhle Mabuza said Blessing is a natural leader who is confident on the field.

“He balances it well with his studies because his marks are also good. Next year, he will be 13 years old and will join the school’s first team. He has the potential of being the captain,” said Mabuza.

Blessing’s father Solomon said the family was surprised but happy with his son’s achievement.

“He loves rugby, and his performance is always getting better. Before each game, he plans the way he is going to play, and he executes the plan exactly like he said,” said Solomon.

The father is already looking to enroll his son in a rugby academy so he can sharpen his skills even when he is not at school. Solomon added that talent scouts have also been keeping an eye on Blessing, and he hopes that when he starts high school, he joins a school with a strong rugby tradition where he can further develop his talent.
