Cricket weekend thrills Amanzimtoti

Spectators turned up in their numbers to witness the first leg of the KZN Cricket Union's Castle Corner Bash.

THE Amanzimtoti Cricket Club’s oval was a hive of activity over two days as it hosted the first leg of the KZN Cricket Union’s Castle Corner Bash on September 7 and 8. Scores of spectators enjoyed back-to-back games in splendid weather.

The Castle Corner Bash consists of six teams made up of the province’s most celebrated cricketing talent. The teams that took part were Rise Up Stars, Shofire Lions, ICR Rockets, Bluff Meat Supply Bisons, Hollywoodbets Hotshots and ETA Shields.

• Shofire Lions –103/4 (16.4) – won by 6 wickets against Rise Up Stars – 99/8 (20).
• ICR Rockets – 152/6 (20) – defeated Bluff Meat Supply Bisons – 95 (17.4) – by 57 runs.
• Shofire Lions – 100/9 (20) – won against Hollywoodbets Hotshots – 101/3 (14.4) – by 7 wickets.
• Hollywoodbets Hotshots – 121/5 (18.2) – won by 5 wickets against ICR Rockets – 120/8 (20).
• Shofire Lions – 87 (17.1) – lost by 3 wickets to ETA Shields – 91/7 (14.4).
• Rise Up Stars – 141/6 (20) – notched another win against ICR Rockets – 135/7 (20) – winning by 6 runs.
• Hollywoodbets Hotshots – 92/9 (20) – lost by 7 wickets to ETA Shields – 96/3 (16.2).
• Bluff Meats Supply Bisons – 136/5 (17.5) – was victorious against Rise Up Stars – 135/4 (20) – by 5 wickets.
