Amanzimtoti cyclists conquer 50km trail

The group of cyclists from Toti that took part in the Go Gravel Midlands race in Karkloof pushed themselves to their limits to complete the challenging 50km trail.

RIDERS from the Amanzimtoti Cycle Club took part in the annual Go Gravel Midlands race in Karkloof on August 11. The ride began and ended at the Absa Karkloof Country Club.

The club’s chairperson, Barry Walker, said the ride offered an unforgettable adventure, winding through an incredible network of district and forest roads.

“While many know Karkloof for its famous single track, the gravel roads there are some of the smoothest and most scenic you’ll find in our beautiful country. But it wasn’t just the stunning scenery that made this event special; it was the warm hospitality of the local farming community and the abundance of off-the-bike experiences for non-riders that turned this event into a truly remarkable one,” said Walker.

The Amanzimtoti contingent took on the 50km route, a course designed for those eager to push their limits from a 30/40km ride to a more challenging 50km.

“It’s also ideal for those who might need to scale down from the 100km, but don’t be deceived, this route demanded real fitness and a strong will to conquer those long hills,” he said.

All Amanzimtoti riders completed the challenging course.
