KZN RINGBALL Schools held an action-packed, fun-filled development day at Amanzimtoti High School’s netball courts on July 6.

This event was open to children aged 10 to 18 and featured a special challenge against the current KZN teams. The experienced players demonstrated their skills and taught the children how to play ringball, formerly known as korfbal.

Following the demonstration, the children had a chance to try the game themselves as well as participate in a fun dancing session during the break.

Amanda Gouws, chairperson of the KZN Ringball Federation School Association, emphasised the importance of these development days in promoting the sport among school-going children.

“Participants included learners from Lower Illovo Secondary School, Amanzimtoti High School and Kuswag Skool. The event was aimed to introduce ringball to students who may not enjoy or excel in the traditional sports offered at their schools. There was a good turnout, with many children trying the sport for the first time which is a good indication of growing interest in the sport,” she said.

Trials will be taking place in Richards Bay next month, where players will be selected for the KZN Team to compete at nationals.
