Amanzimtoti High swimmers set new records at inter-house gala

Aiden Overbeek was announced as the Junior Boys’ Victor Ludurom and Talitha Schuch as the Junior Girls’ Victrix Ludurom at Amanzimtoti High Schools’ inter-house gala.

AMANZIMTOTI High School recently held a fun-filled inter-house gala, where new records were set by some of its top-performing swimmers.

The school’s Reuben Schoeman said the annual inter-house gala is always an event filled with great spirit and enthusiasm, and it was a wonderful way to begin a year of friendly competition and school pride.

“The gala was a great success. Every swimmer gave their all in the pool, and every supporter cheered their hearts out in the stands. It was a day of extraordinary team spirit and wonderful performances from all swimmers,” he said.

The new records are as follows:

  • Caden le Roux (U14 Boy): 100m individual medley in a time of 10.93 seconds, 50m backstroke in 34.44 seconds and 50m freestyle in 27.83 seconds.
  • Nadia le Roux (U/14 Girl): 25m butterfly in 16.16 seconds.
  • Talitha Schuch (U/14 Girl): 50m breaststroke in 40.75 seconds.
  • Isla Leiper (U/14 Girl): 50m breaststroke in 42.10 seconds.
  • Tyne van Actherbergh (Open Boy): 100m individual medley in 1 minute, 5.35 seconds, 50m breaststroke in 33.58 and 50m freestyle in 25.91 seconds.
  • Trent Douglas (Open Boy): 25m butterfly in 11.51 seconds.
  • Matthew Maree (Open Boy): 100m individual medley in 1 minute, 4.57 seconds, 25m butterfly in 11.09 seconds, 50m backstroke in 30.56 seconds, 50m breaststroke in 33.50 seconds and 50m freestyle in 25.28 seconds.

The overall winners were Aiden Overbeek as Junior Boys’ Victor Ludurom, Talitha Schuch as Junior Girls’ Victrix Ludurom, Matthew Maree as Senior Boys’ Victor Ludurom and Gabriella Tilli as Senior Girls’ Victor Ludurom.

The overall house positions were Dartnell in first with 514 points, Sondela second with 439 and Gardiner in third with 384.
