Galleria Figure Skating Club puts on a performance [Video]
In celebration of World Ice Skating Day, the club offered free lessons and put on a special performance for the crowd.
IN celebration of World Ice Skating Day (WISD) on December 3, Galleria Figure Skating Club offered free lessons and performed a routine in an effort to promote the sport.
According to the International Skating Union, WISD is a global celebration dedicated to the joy and excitement of ice skating, uniting about 50 countries in festivities.

The club’s Wendy Jannsens said Galleria, being the only ice rink in KZN, provides a unique platform for them to engage with the community.
“The day was to promote this exciting and challenging sport by giving free lessons, showcasing some of our club members’ skills as well as putting on a special performance for the crowd,” she said.
The club’s head coach, Nikita Pillay, said they wanted to raise awareness about ice hockey and figure skating in the area, as well as show people what a beautiful art form it is.
“We’re actively encouraging people of all ages and skill levels to join and be part of rebuilding the sport after its decline during the challenges of Covid-19,” she said.
