Amanzimtoti rugby ace awarded

Blessing Mndaba was selected for the Natal Sharks U12 squad in June this year.

BLESSING MNDABA said he is happy after being awarded at the recently held Amanzimtoti Rugby Club’s award ceremony for its junior teams.

He received awards for being the U12 Forward of the Year and another for being the Players’ Player of the Year. The Umbogintwini Primary School’s Grade Six learner said his love for rugby started in Grade Four.

“As my skills improve, I love the game even more. What I like about rugby is the discipline it teaches and how it builds a player,” said Blessing.

In June, he was selected into the Natal Sharks U12 squad that toured Klerksdorp. He said he sees himself continuing with rugby and playing professionally like his favourite player, Eben Etzebeth.

Blessing’s father, Solomon, said they feel proud as parents to witness their son at the beginning of his rugby career and having fun.

“This young man knows what he wants, and he is working very hard because he wants to play professionally one day. We are giving him all the support he needs to realise his dream,” said Solomon.

He thanked Umbogintwini Primary School, the chairman of the Durban South Academy, Thami Nxumalo, and Amanzimtoti Rugby Club’s chairman, Anton Labuschagne, and his team for the good work they have done to develop Blessing.
