Just before kickoff, viewers all over the world will see him walk onto the pitch, hand in hand, with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. Kellan (10) is one of only two children in South Africa who were selected as a Land Rover Defender of Tomorrow and a mascot of the Rugby World Cup 2023. He was selected on the strength of his recycling efforts and nature conservation project.

In June, former Springbok Bryan Habana arrived at Kellan’s school to make the announcement that the Grade Four learner and his mother would be jetting off to France – all expenses paid – to participate in one of the matches.

The South Africa vs Ireland game kicks off at 21:00 South African time.
