THERE were various KH T20 Winter League teams going head-to-head on the Amanzimtoti cricket fields recently, including one of the home teams.
Amanzimtoti Cricket Club’s (ACC) veterans, who join the off-season tournament for the first time, took on the Falcons of central Durban, on the Toti Oval.

The veterans’ Bennie Benade said the game was reduced to 15 overs a side due to wet outfields. Toti batted first and scored 118/5, setting the target of 119 to win. Falcons only managed to get 105/7 in their 15 overs.
ACC’s veterans won by 13 runs. “Man of the match went to Wikus Koortzen. He scored 57 from only 38 balls, and bowled one over at the depth going for only four runs and taking a wicket,” said Benade.

After three games, the veterans’ team are now sixth on the log out of 10 teams. A total of 20 teams in two groups are playing in the 12th edition of the league, which started on May 6.
Matches are played every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays until the conclusion of the league in July. The venues are the Amanzimtoti Cricket Grounds and Kloof High School.
The finals will be held at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.
