Beach volleyball raises funds in Toti

The tournament's aim was to raise funds for Tidy Towns Amanzimtoti and to promote the sport of beach volleyball.

A BEACH volleyball tournament and market day was held at the Amanzimtoti Main Beach on November 5 under perfect sunny conditions.

Organised by the Clean Surf Project, Nandos and Sapphire Coast Tourism, the event was a fundraiser for the benefit of Tidy Towns Amanzimtoti, who will, in turn, plough the money back into the community by conducting clean-up campaigns.

A total of 16 clubs participated in the games, and most of the players came from the Durban area.
Romy Wenzel of Sapphire Coast Tourism participated in the games, partnering up with Georgina Enoch, and they won their match against Chlöe Kisten and Melody Nyide.

“Besides raising funds, the other aim of the tournament was to promote volleyball because it is not a popular sport in Amanzimtoti. We would like to see it gain prominence,” said Romy.
