Warner Beach’s pensioner bodybuilder keeps winning

Stewart ‘Stewie’ Spence is a natural bodybuilder which means he builds his muscles without the use of steroids.

A VETERAN natural bodybuilder from Warner Beach is still winning awards and giving men half his age a run for their money even at the ripe old age of 76.

On August 27, Stewart ‘Stewie’ Spence, participated in the ICN African Naturals Championships which were held at Durban Boys’ High School. He achieved first place in the grandmasters’ category and was awarded a trophy, and also won a gold medal in the O/40 category. He was given a special medal in recognition of his passion and dedication to the sport, and for being a good example to bodybuilders of all ages.

Natural bodybuilding involves building muscle without the use of steroids, and athletes are tested before every event.

“I was very happy about my achievement. I have been active since I was 16 years old, and I don’t intend to stop anytime soon. I will keep competing for as long as I can,” he said.

Besides his trophy and medals, Spence won other prizes that include gym equipment and protein shakes.
