The competition takes place on Saturday, April 30 in Westville.

BEING a parent or having a busy lifestyle does not prohibit one from reaching extraordinary goals or participating in competitions.

This is according to Daniel and Carien Da Camara of Amanzimtoti who are both qualified personal trainers, and will be competing in the IBFF Development Novice Bodybuilding Show on Saturday, April 30 in Westville. Their busy day starts at 05:00 daily, working and preparing for the show, while supporting their three children who also do well in their sports and at school.

“Being healthy with a strong immune system has become so important in today’s life, which is why I encourage each and everyone to put their own wellbeing first,” said Carien.

Daniel agreed, saying time management, discipline, hard work, being positive and having fun as a family can uplift a household. He said they were looking forward to the competition.

“Yes, we are nervous and excited. We both support each other and uplift one another when needed. Team work is so important in order to get chores done or to stay in routine with training, and we encourage each other constantly. Carien will make sure our nutrition is balanced and prepared, and we get a lot of support from granny,” said Daniel.

Having been in fitness for more than 10 years, this will be their first time competing in a bodybuilding competition.

“Being positive role models to our children and while maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important to us. It is a matter of choice about what type of lifestyle do you want to live,” said Carien.
