Bowls competition calendar finalised at Winklespruit Bowling Club

The club look forward to a busy bowling season ahead.

AFTER an extremely busy week at Winklespruit Bowling Club all the in-house competition draws have been finalised and are now on the notice board. Players are urged to pay the entry fee ahead of the game.

The Clear Waters Spur men’s 2-4-2 was recently played with all rinks taken up. A high standard of bowls was on display and the players enjoyed the morning out on the green. A big thank you to Bessie Vergottini, Shirley de Wee, Maureen Griffin and Norma Raath, who worked in the kitchen and behind the bar. Thank you also to Clear Waters Spur for its continuous sponsorship.

Overall winners were Adrian Morrison and Mac Mackrory. The second session was won by Freddy Hetterscheidt and Les Gibbons and the 100 board winner was Steve Evenwell.

The monthly John Dory mixed trips was played last weekend, and again a full green was out in force. The players coped well while playing for long periods under constant drizzling rain. The rain didn’t dampen the players spirit and all had a wonderful morning of competitive bowls. A bring and braai was held after bowls with a large number of members attending. Thanks to the sponsor, John Dory, for its support.

Overall winners were Paul Hedley and Basil and Sylveigh Ananiadis. Second session winners were Estelle van der Merwe, Piet du Toit and Tommy Maritz and the 100 board was won by Ellie Cox.
