Umgababa athletes stay fit

Participation is open to anyone who wants to take part.

THE Umgababa Athletics Club is hoping to get more people to start running to get fit and teach them that road running is not always about winning.

Meeting at Ultra City every Sunday at 06:00, since the beginning of the year, the club welcomes people of all ages who want to take part in a 4km or 10km run/ walk.

“While running helps with many things physically, it also helps connect people and keep communities strong. That is a good thing,” said the club’s Smangele Khomo.

Anyone who wants to participate is required to be at Ultra City South on Sunday before 06:00 and sign up.

“For those who would like to be full members of the Umgababa Athletics Club they can also get all the details they need to register. I need to stress though that one does not need to be a member of the club to take part in the Sunday run,” said Smangele.
