Golfers hit the greens in Amanzimtoti

The club welcomes new and old golfers to join in for play.

ON a blistering hot and humid day, with greens playing the best in years, golfers took to the fairways at Amanzimtoti Golf Club to contest the 4ball alliance with 2 scores to count.

Winning on a count-out with a tally of 91 points were Tommy McNaughton, Alan Brydon, Rob Symons and Peter Tiearney. In 2nd place was Barry Buckland, George Glaves, Johnny Schonken and Martin Tait, 3rd was Errol Woods, Cecil Heydenrych and Andrew Bourne and in 4th place was Mark Cowie, Murray Dalton, Kalvin van Rensberg and Aveedh Sing.

The women’s team played IPS with combined scores and a hidden partner. In 1st place on a score of 73 was Sue Daniels and Aneska du Pont, 2nd was Gillian Symons and Carole Glaves on a score of 72 and nearest the pin was Carole Glaves.

The first monthly mug competition of the year turned out a great success. Winning the A division on a count out was Marcel Chard with a score of 71, 2nd was Colin Scorer on 71, 3rd place went to Jason van Rensberg on 72 followed by his brother Kalvin van Rensberg on 72.

Winning the B division on a personal best was Sean Miller 63, 2nd by some distance was Pat Fowler with a score of 71. Winning the C division was Chris van Oudtshoorn with a score of 73 and 2nd place was Ian Smit on 74. Best gross score for the A division was Kalvin van Rensberg on 71, B division was Sean Miller on 78 and in the C division was Chris van Oudtshoorn on 92.

The women’s silver division was won by Gerda Heydenrych on a score of 73, the bronze division winner was Adriana Slabbert on a score of 73 and the copper division was won by Aneska Dupont. Nearest the pin on the 7th hole was Gerda Heydenrych who also had the least number of putts, 27.

Results for the men’s 4ball betterball stableford. Hamilton Kerr and Mark Bingham won on a score of 45 points. Coming 2nd, a point behind, winning the count-out was Nick Brits and Brian Rhodes on 44 points. Followed by Piet Carstens and Ian smit on 44 points.

Closest to the pin on 4th and 15th was Andrew Bourne. The women’s team played the 4ball betterball bonus bogey. Winning on a fantastic score of +11 was Gerda Heydenrych and Frances Hoole and in 2nd place, some points back was Jackie Dunlop and Adrianna Slabbert on a score of +8. Nearest the pin on 15th was Jackie Dunlop.
