Two things to put in your diary - firstly a game of nominated ‘pro 10’ pairs on Sunday, September 19, and the club AGM on Friday, September 24 (Heritage Day).

THE three Amanzimtoti Bowling Club members, who were invited to play in the district qualifying masters at the weekend, made the club very proud.

Greg McLeod and Tokkie de Kock played in the veterans, and Talla Stephens-Viviers played in the open. Although they were just not able to win their sections, all three put up a very strong showing, winning several of their games, and losing others by very narrow margins.

Members enjoyed a novel game of three bowl pairs on Sunday, August 8. The winners were Heather and Linden Cooper.

Runners-up were Ian Mills and Ray Robinson, with Alec and Nicky Stirzaker third. Monthly social games are now back on track and members are enjoying being able to see their friends on the green once again. Amanda

Ninow and Elmarie Young won the women’s 2-4-2 on Tuesday, August 3, with Delysia Mitchley and Lesley Levy coming second.

Second session went to Leonie Mills and Hilary Lindsay. In men’s trips on Thursday, August 5, the winners were Phil Whitton, Vince Phaal and Shaun Fagan.

Eric Klopper, Dallas Davis and Terry Morgan were second, and George Glaves, Cleve Hein and Wessie van der Westhuizen won the second session.

At TGIF the 100 board was won by Robbie Roberts. Mark Brodie was not present to win the attendance draw, so it will go up to R150 next week. Jacqui Birch was not able to find the right key in the key draw, so the jackpot will go up to R5 715 next week with 24 keys to choose from.

The club looks forward to the final two rounds of the inter-club league this coming weekend. It has been a long campaign because of the interruption of lockdown. However, all the divisions are looking to improve their position on the log.

Two things to put in your diary – firstly a game of nominated ‘pro 10’ pairs on Sunday, September 19, and the club AGM on Friday, September 24 (Heritage Day).

The club wish Ian Mills a happy birthday.
