It’s game time at Winklespruit Bowling Club

The competition was fiercely competitive and the overall winner came down to a countdown involving three teams.

WHEN Winklespruit Bowling Club (WBC) was opened after the lifting of some Covid-19 restrictions, the members made a wonderful effort in trying to complete all the outstanding club competitions prior to the end of the season.

The club women’s single champion was decided last week when Lou Bingham took on Estelle van der Merwe in the final. Both of them beat last year’s finalists in the semi-finals for the right to contest the women’s single championship. Lou Bingham came out of the starting blocks like a steam train, and before Estelle knew it Lou had won the first five ends before she got on the score board.

Both women played some good shots, but Estelle just seemed to have no answer to Lou’s shot accuracy. As the game progressed Lou continued to pick the ends off and went on to win the game.

The Clear Waters Spur men’s 2-4-2 took place last week.

The competition was fiercely competitive and the overall winner came down to a countdown involving three teams.

Thanks to the competition secretary, Barrie de Wee for his hard work in organising another excellent morning of bowls. To the sponsor, Clear Waters Spur for its continued support through these very difficult trading conditions. Lastly, to all the players who continually support the club.

The winners were Wessie van der Westuizen and Dave Kemp. Second session winners were Mike Kruger and Barry Hilton and the 100 board was won by George Glaves.

Players are urged to check the notice board for upcoming fixtures of the Port Natal men’s and women’s league.
