Get active for baby Liané

All funds raised on the day will be donated to parents, Bianca and Ronaldo for the treatment needed for Liané.

Run/ Walk for Life Amanzimtoti has decided to raise funds for baby Liané Erasmus who is diagnosed with a rare type of cancer.  A charity run/ walk will take place at the Amanzimtoti Cricket Oval on Saturday, 15 May, and all funds raised on the day will be donated to parents, Bianca and Ronaldo for the treatment needed for Liané.  First-time parents, Bianca and Ronaldo were blessed with a beautiful little girl almost a year ago. Tragedy struck when their baby was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer when she was eight-months-old.

Despite having a medical aid plan, additional medical costs have been piling up. This has taken a serious toll on her family.  Registration on the day is R50 regardless of the distance.

“The run/ walk will have three distances of 3km, 5km and 9km. We have mapped out routes and Lords and Legends will open earlier than usual. There will be refreshments and bacon, egg and cheese rolls and hot dogs for children for sale,” said Bruce Fisher from the organisation.

Registration will take place at 6am, followed by a warm up at 6.30am. The run/ walk is planned to kick off at 6.45am.

“We have approached several local businesses to lend their support in the form of prizes that we can raffle off on the day. There will be a few raffles on the day and the proceeds raised will be used for the treatment for the baby. We will not exceed 250 runners/ walkers. We appeal to the community to support this initiative by participating or entering the raffles. If residents cannot do the run/ walk they are more than welcome to support the raffles. Members of Run Walk for Life from various communities will also be present on the day.”
