6 ABC players for 2021 PN teams
A handful of bowlers set to play in Port Natal sides.
Six bowlers from Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC) have been invited to play in Port Natal sides based on their past performances in district games.
Selected for the women’s veterans’ side are Doreen Salmond (skip) and Jane Coetzee (lead). Jeanne Alexander and Nicky Stirzaker have both been selected as thirds in the women’s ‘B’ side. Tokkie de Kock will play second in the president’s side and Dion Audie will skip the men’s open side.
It’s a huge honour to be selected and requires a lot of dedication, so the players are fervently hoping they will get a chance to test their mettle once Covid-19 regulations allow.
Birthday greetings for the coming week go to Keith West, Leigh Callaghan and Dave Kemp. Belated birthday greetings also go to one of the clubs most seasoned members who we were not able to congratulate due to lockdown – Ian Crouch, who turned 80 just before Christmas. 2021 is also his 40th year playing bowls – a double milestone.
Ian started his bowling career in 1981 at Wentworth Bowling Club and won the handicap singles in that same year. He has been a member of ABC since 2004 and has won many honours since then.
The club wishes him continued health and strength to carry on his winning ways.
