Cyclists will continue training despite club being closed

Now that President Cyril Ramaphosa moved the training times, riders can start at 5am instead of 6am, more training can be done.

Amanzimtoti Cycling Club will not host any cycling events in the near future as well as any gathering of members at its club house.

According to the club spokesperson and chairman, Barry Walker, there will be no official club ride. All cyclists are urged to do their training in either a family group or form a bubble of only two riders when riding or training.

The forming of a bubble is very important as riding alone is not a good thing, but if you ride in the same bubble of two riders and you practice social distancing it will keep you safe.

If riders are not feeling well, they are asked to stay away from any group and to self-isolate until they feel better.

Now that President Cyril Ramaphosa moved the training times, riders can start at 5am instead of 6am, more training can be done.

“The club is calling on all cyclists to be safe and to adhere to Covid-19 regulations at all times and not to stop off for gatherings at coffee shops etc. after the ride and to limit their interaction with others as much as possible.
“There will be a time when this virus will pass and everyone can gather once again. Until then, let’s not be fooled by this virus and let your guard down. While it is very difficult wearing a mask while riding, you must always have your mask close by when you stop or if you are approaching others on the road. Numbers are now becoming names and we can’t afford to lose anyone from this virus,” he said.
