Winkle bowlers fill the field in 2-4-2 pairs compo

Winkle Bowling Club held its men’s 2-4-2 pairs competition on Thursday, 26 November, and a full green of players participated. All the players had an enjoyable session of bowls. A big thank you to Clear Water Spur Steak Ranch for its sponsorship. Overall winners were Dave Kemp and Fred Welch and the second session winners were George Cormack and Gert Richter. The 100 board was won by Gert Richter.

The competition convener thanks Wilma Richter and Bessie Vergottini for their help in the kitchen and the bar staff for ensuring that refreshments were attended to. The John Dory monthly mixed trips was held on Saturday morning, 28 November, followed by a bring and braai that was well supported by players and friends.

Thanks to the committee members who offered up their time in ensuring that the tournament ran smoothly. Also a big thank you to the members who helped in the kitchen, the bar staff and the committee for supplying the coal for the braai fires and pap and sauce. Lastly to John Dory’s for its sponsorship.

Winners were Freddy Hetteheidt, Less Gibbons and Sheila Court and the second session winners were Wessie van der Westhuizen, André Gelderblom and Maureen Griffin. The 100 board was won by Les Gibbons.

Important dates to remember:
Affiliation fees need to be paid by no later than Tuesday, 8 December. Members can pay at the club or by electronic bank transfer, use your surname as reference on your deposit.
Women’s Caltex twinkle trips will be played on Wednesday, 9 December.
Men’s Victory Spar trips takes place on Thursday, 10 December.
Social bowls, tabs in will be held on Friday, 11 December, between 1.30pm and 2pm followed by floodlight night bowls from 7pm. Hot dogs will be on sale after tabs.
The annual Christmas dinner which takes place on Saturday, 19 December, at 6.30pm for 7pm is fully booked.
