Illovo soccer club to raise funds

The day will feature an open division five-a-side tournament, U17 soccer tournament, volleyball and thunee competition.

The Illovo Uprising Football Club hosts a family bring and braai day on Sunday, 1 December at Illovo Sports Grounds to help raise much needed funds.

Illovo Uprising FC is a youth development club that was formed by some of the dedicated parents in the community to help keep the children of Illovo and surrounding areas of the streets and free from drugs and other harmful substances to give them a chance to develop in sporting activities and other social activities.

“We have been running the club for two years and have really made head way with whatever little sponsors we get from the community and local businesses,” said Chairman of Illovo Uprising, Tony Govender. “We appeal to the Toti public and business owners for any kind of support to make this day successful. We especially need soccer balls.”

The day will feature an open division five-a-side tournament, U17 soccer tournament as well as a volleyball and thunee competition. All the action starts at 8am and the day finishes late with a free open air bash. To help or enter a team, call Tony on 072-331-7438.
