  • Loud squeal when you hit the brakes: Brake pads or discs are probably worn and need to be replaced.
  • Steering wheel vibration: Get your wheels aligned.
  • Wipers stutter: The rubbers are uneven and need replacing.
  • Whirring sound from petrol bay or engine: Your fuel pump could be starting to fail.
  • Distinct ‘clunk’ after you go over a speed bump: Most likely your shock absorbers need attention.
  • Clicking or popping noise when turning: Your CV joints are most likely worn.
  • Steering wheel groans: There might be a leak in the power-steering system.
  • Screeching sound when revving: The fan belt is probably loose.
  • A light thumping as you drive: This may be due to flat spots on your tyres.
  • Compressed air escaping: An exhaust manifold gasket could have failed.
  • Hissing from engine when idling: A rubber or plastic vacuum line or fitting is leaking or has been severed.
