Debbie makes a comeback for Run Walk For Life runners

Debbie Sneddon made a comeback to road races, after recovering from injuries she sustained a few years ago

Despite the inclement weather, which hampered all training as well as races for Run Walk For Life members, last weekend, the club’s golden oldie, Chris Willets completed the park run in Port Alfred in a time of 56:00.

Reg Groves achieved two milestones by completing the DCM 21.1km race in a time of 2:55 and also completing his 37 000 kilometer race with Run Walk For Life.

Debbie Sneddon made a comeback to road races, after recovering from injuries she sustained a few years ago, by completing the Durban City Marathon in a time of 4:37:23. Up and coming events this weekend include the popular Chatsworth 52/21.1/10km race.

Sunday, 21 April will see the return of the RWFL 8×8 training run (64km) start at 4.30am at Amanzimtoti High School. The run consists of a 8km run and eight laps. Everyone is welcome including walkers. You don’t have to complete all eight laps as the full distance is for Comrades runners. For more information, contact Jan Botha on 082-290-4025.

Athletes are requested to wear reflective clothing to be visible while training as the evenings are getting darker earlier. They are also urged to stay on the right-hand side of the road, run against traffic and avoid running with music playing in both ears. Join Jan and Lizette Botha at Amanzimtoti High School on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5pm, where all people of all ages and fitness levels are welcome.

For more information, contact Jan on 082-290-4025.
