Level two club swimmers bag haul of medals at KZN champs

This small club did extremely well

NINE of Aqua Swimming Academy’s level two swimmers raced at the level 2 KZN championships on the weekend of 23 and 24 February.

This small club did extremely well to bring home a total of 32 medals between them – 12 gold, 13 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Mia Matthews (14) won gold for 50m and 100m breaststroke, and silver for 200m breaststroke.

Jason Maree (14) won gold for 200m backstroke and breaststroke, silver for 50m backstroke and breaststroke, 100m backstroke and breaststroke, 100m and 200m freestyle and the 200m individual medley. He also won bronze for 50m freestyle and butterfly.

Josslyn Frank (14) won silver for 50m breaststroke. Chae Dowsett (13) won gold for 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley. She also won silver for 100m back and bronze for 50m backstroke.

Ashleigh Fick (12) won gold for 50m backstroke, silver for 100m backstroke and bronze for 50m breaststroke. Connor Franken (11) won gold for 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle, and bronze for 50m and 100m backstroke.

Thurayya Moodley (11) won silver for 200m individual medley. Jason Ozorio (11) won silver for 100m butterfly.

Kai Franken won bronze for 50m backstroke.

Jason Maree, Mia Matthews and Ashleigh Fick are now preparing to race in Sasolburg at the level 2 nationals at the beginning of April.
