A community junior football drive is underway to get more youngsters playing in Isipingo and surrounding areas.
Ronnie Vengan, a stalwart and soccer legend of Isipingo football, together with sports master, Kamal Singh, who has served school junior football and mini cricket for the past 27 years in the area, has now embarked on the formation of junior football teams for boys and girls in the U6, U9, U13, U15 and U17 divisions for the upcoming season in Isipingo and districts.
“There is a growing interest from parents and their children to form teams and to play organised league football over weekends whereby the parents and children want to meet and greet with each other, as it is inconvenient during school hours for parents to attend and watch their children participate in football,” said Ronnie.

“Whether your child is schooled within or outside Isipingo, they are entitled to be a part of junior football teams. I have served Isipingo football for over 50 years and I have always believed sport and education is the best instrument to develop our children and unite the nation. My message to parents and children – while at school, it is an added advantage for children to be involved in a sport of their choice,” said Ronnie.
Team selections will be held on Saturday, 27 October at Kamalinee Primary School in Lotus Park, Isipingo at 10am. All parents and children are invited. Afterwards there will be a game of football.
