Excitement mounts for Winkle nippers’ first carnival

The weather left much to be desired as the wind pumped and the sand got everywhere.

LAST weekend saw Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club nippers compete in their first nipper carnival of the season, which took place at Marine Lifesaving Club on Durban beachfront.

All nippers did their club proud.

“Everyone was very excited to finally be able to compete in the water,” explained WSLC’s Mikayla Sumption.

“The weather left much to be desired as the wind pumped and the sand got everywhere. However, this did not stop the eager little nippers. They pushed through the conditions and made the best out of it. Well done to all the competitors who took part.”

The wind also motivated the seniors to do some training. WSLC coach Dean Marais held a fantastic session that left everyone feeling rather sore the next day. All these preparations are making the club excited for things to come this season.

WSLC thanked the squad on duty last Sunday for keeping a keen eye over all of those who were out enjoying the beach and ocean, despite the wind. “You are always appreciated,” reminded Mikayla.
