Warm up for women’s ice hockey weekend

The event will be held at the Galleria Ice Rink on Sunday, 7 October.

An international women’s ice hockey weekend takes place at the Galleria Ice Rink on Sunday, 7 October.

“Women’s ice hockey is one of the fastest growing sports in the world thanks to events like this one and similar programmes that are being run in many countries,” said Michelle Murphy of DurbaKnights.

“This weekend is an opportunity for girls from eight-years-old and older to try ice hockey.” The event is from 8.30am to 9.30am and the cost is R50 per person, which includes a T-shirt and goodie bag.

The KwaZulu-Natal Association hosts this annual event to bring girls together on the ice so they can:

* Be introduced to basic skills in ice hockey in a positive, fun and safe environment;

* Learn about fair play, sportsmanship and teamwork;

* Meet new friends and have a chance to fall in love with a new sport.

“Come be part of the fun that will be shared all around the world. Booking is essential, so that the basic kit can be provided and space is limited,” said Michelle. Book before midday on Tuesday, 2 October.
