KZN’s junior Protea anglers look to hook help with Namibian tour costs
With two KZN locals on the team, the community is urged to lend their support and donate towards the team's journey.
THE Protea Junior U21 angling team will travel to Henties Bay, Namibia to showcase their skills against fellow anglers from around the world at the International Shore Angling Championship this December.

Representing their country is going to prove a costly expedition for the team which is comprised of seven anglers, a manager and coach. Those who wish to support the sportsmen by making a donation, can do so through the convenient ‘Back a Buddy’ fundraising platform.
“Unfortunately, this is not a spectator sport so there is no sponsorship for large brands, which means the whole team has to fund themselves. Expenses include fuel for travel, airfare, accommodation, meals, competition entry fees and clothing,” explained local angler, Keagan Murgatroyd.
The anglers who were selected to represent South Africa include:
Johan van der Westhuizen (West Coast), Marius Baard (Eden), Franco Minnie (West Coast), Dante Stumpher (West Coast), Dean Campbell (West Coast), Keagan Murgatroyd (KwaZulu-Natal), Sian Pillay (KwaZulu-Natal) together with manager Morne Esterhuizen and Boland coach Xander de Beer (Eden).
