ONCE again it is social time at Amanzimtoti Golf Club, and this time around it takes the form of a music quiz evening this Friday night, starting at 6.30pm.

Braai fires will be lit and rolls provided, but supply your own meat, salads and eating necessities.

The club would love to have a full complement for this fundraiser, so go on down and join in the fun. Last week saw some very good attendances at competitions, with Wednesday starting the ball rolling when 32 players turned out to compete in the midweek IPS. Top honours went to Peter Oberholtzer with 38 points, followed in by Rob Kruger on 37 who in turn beat Michael Slabbert into third place by a count out.

Friday’s nine-hole sundowner was challenged by 27 players, and won by V Johnston on 21 points, (new kid on the block perhaps?). In second place was Seelan Sumptink on 20 and in third was Chris Coetzee on 19 points.

On Saturday the women played a fourball alliance, the best two scores multiplied all round, and the team of Liz Donald, Colleen Smit, Charmain Stone and their guest Lynn David, took the honours on 106 points. Lynn had a two club on the 15th, and Brenda Morgan was nearest the pin on the 7th.

The men played a fourball alliance, two scores all round, with 67 players turning up. Winning on a good score of 109 was the team of Bobby Milne, Dave Finch, Robert Roux and Johan Roux. Second place went to Terry Cousins, Mike McGregor, Leon Haggie and Mark Bingham with 107 points and in third place were Peter Tiearney, Eugene Mbambo, Peter Dalton and Murray Dalton on 105.

Two nearest the pins went to Neil Oberholzer and Peter Dalton on the fourth and 15th respectively, and there were three two-clubs, two of which went to these two, and the other to Sean Scorer.

As always AGC invites golfers to play a round of golf on its beautiful course. Call the pro shop on 031-902-4144 to book a tee-off time and hire a cart if so desired, and the driving range is open every day for those wishing to hone their skills or try out this magical game.
