Elmarie and Brian claim Les John 2-4-2 spoils

OVERALL winners of the Warner Beach Caltex twinkle trips played at Winklespruit Bowling Club on Wednesday, 10 January were Marietjie van der Berg, Amanda Ninow and Maggie Robertson.

Second session victors were Stella Erasmus, Lynn Fitzsimmons and Dot Liebatrau.

Marie van der Walt was the winner of the 100 board and the mystery prize was won by Elaine Critchlow. The spider was won by Di Kruger.

Brian Pasfield, Barrie De Wee and Cedric Kruger were overall winners in the men’s trips played on Thursday, 11 January. Second session was taken by Paul Els, Wessie van der Westhuizen and Kokkie de Kock. Les John won the 100 board.

Overall winners for the Les John mixed 2-4-2 played on Saturday, 13 January were Elmarie Young and Brian Cox. Second session victors were Freddy Hetterscheidt and Annalie Pienaar. Mac and Joyce Mackrory were the first session winners. The 100 board was won by Norma Raath.

Barrie De Wee played in the Port Natal novice men’s singles on Saturday. He won the first game and lost the second by one point. It was a close game. Barrie did the game proud.

Winklespruit BC wishes Shirley De Wee good bowling for Saturday when she plays in the Port Natal novice women’s singles.

Wednesday and Friday afternoon social bowls was as usual well attended. The winner of the Friday evening attendance draw was Elmarie Young.

There was a good turn-out at the Friday evening meal. The club sincerely thanks Wilma Richter and Trish Farmer for making the vetkoek, mince and baked pudding. The pudding was unique and delicious, which is closely guarded recipe that only Trish and Wilma know, as apparently it is their invention.

Diarise the following dates: The Clearwater Spur mixed 2-4-2 will be played this Saturday morning at the usual 8.30am for 9am.

Starting time for social bowls is at the summer starting time, which is 2.30pm for 3pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Winkle BC wishes Tony Fitzsimmons a happy birthday and a blessed year ahead.

Prayers and thoughts are with Honey Behr who is recovering from an operation and John Court who is not well.
