Zama makes emphatic return to Toti GC

Last Wednesday 25 players turned out to compete in the midweek meat competition, with Bryan Algate taking the honours on a fine 41 points

THE rain that has fallen over the past few days has been most welcome, and the course is looking amazing at Amanzimtoti Golf Club.

The new bunkers are almost all completed and the grassed sides will hopefully flourish with the added watering.

Another new, very welcome addition to the course is the environmentally sensitive area running along the river side of the sixth hole.

Players must take heed of the signage, as no entry to this area is permitted. The scribe must say though that the presentation of this new area has been well done, and it is another implementation at Toti Golf Club and Conservancy that will go a long way towards improving its green belt status.

Last Wednesday, 25 players turned out to compete in the midweek meat competition. Bryan Algate took the honours on a fine 41 points, chased two shots back by Lucy Pienaar and Errol Woods another two shots back on 37.

No results were available from the Friday competition.

On Saturday the women played 4BBB, with Thanda Zama making an amazing return to the course as runaway victor paired up with her pivoting partner Colleen Smit. They scored a great 56 points. The following three places were decided by count out, with Sue Boucher and Gill Symons, Lass Davis and Brenda Morgan, and Colleen Smit and Sue Conlan all on 50. Nearest the pin went to Liz Donald on the 4th, and she converted the two-club as well, while Brenda Morgan also achieved a two club on the 4th hole.

The men also played a 4BBB, with 52 players turning out to compete. Top spot went to Jeff Cronje and Andy de Witt on 50, with Dave Stentiford and Daddy Swart in second on 49. Third spot went to Wimpy Nel and Louis Steyn on 47. Two nearest the pins were won by Louis Steyn on the 7th and Rob Wilson on the 17th.
